Build muscle memory

Turn the structure into reliable movement by connecting every note to a degree, a sound, and a physical location.

Map the tonal center

Keep the tonic visible and audible while you explore the selected position.

  • Locate every tonic in the position.
  • Name each degree before playing it.
  • Sing the tonic between repetitions.
  • Return to the tonic after every pattern.

Control the movement

Use a small set of directions and rhythmic shapes before increasing the range.

  • Play ascending and descending first.
  • Keep an even pulse.
  • Use one fingering consistently.
  • Stop and correct tension immediately.

Make it musical

Transform the diagram into phrases that preserve the harmonic color.

  • Start and end on different degrees.
  • Alternate steps and skips.
  • Repeat a short motif in two registers.
  • Resolve each phrase deliberately.

Three-pass practice

Use the same position for three focused passes.

  1. Play every note slowly while naming its degree.
  2. Repeat with one melodic pattern and a steady pulse.
  3. Improvise a short phrase, then resolve clearly to the tonic.

Increase speed or range only when all three passes remain relaxed and accurate.

Harmony chords stay unchanged.
Uses JolyEngine sounds; harmony and bass stay unchanged.
Shift the preset runner shape by this amount after each full preset pass. Example: 1 runs the preset, then the same preset shifted by one step, then again by one more.
